There is an old saying that we are all familiar with, that goes something like a little bit of knowledge is dangerous. This certainly goes for SEO, or search engine optimization. You only need to look around the Search Engine Optimization forums at the half truths that get misunderstood and discussed by the newbies on these SEO forums as facts. SEO is the process of increasing the amount of visitors to a web site (or for our purposes a forum) by ranking high in the search results of a search engine (SERPs). SEO can be a steep learning curve with so many half truths out there, especially if you busy trying to run your forum.
Probably the first place to start is to read Google’s own free SEO Guide.
One eBook that can help you understand things quickly is the SEO Handbook. Its only $20 and not a lot to loose if you don’t like it (I like it!) and lots to gain at getting the basics right. Its a good supplement or complement to Google’s guide.
Another bargain is SEO Revenge – its only $9.95 from Clickbank. Ignore the marketing hype on the landing page. It actually has a lot of good pearls and tips in it and its only $9.95!
If you have read those and want to learn more, then there is a good read of a real book called The Art of SEO which is written by some key players in the SEO industry.
